In thinking and looking at how to help voice the disapproval of how the detained immigrant and their children were treated, I felt the overwhelming feeling to act and do something. This led to thinking of a way to fax representatives and spawned a blog post.
This post did a great thing to have a few awesome people reach out with some of the tools already available to voice concerns to state and federal leaders to try to get positive changes made to how these immigrants are treated.
I wanted to take a moment to highlight each of these tools and encourage you to take a moment to show your support.
In researching faxing representatives, there was a really good section in the Resist Bot documentation of "why" they stopped using faxes. I still want to provide this service in the future but it is good to think about the harm to others that can happen by overwhelming this avenue of communication at scale.
"You used to fax everything, what happened? Faxes are harder to ignore!
Fax was a workaround to the problem of busy phone lines early on, but as Resistbot signed up more users, it became self-defeating. Congress wasn’t designed to handle the volume of faxes our users were sending, over 5 million pages in six months, and so many offices began to pull the plug, we filled all their fax lines up, and broke at least one machine. (Sorry!) We were also getting in the way of key constituent services for veterans and other groups that still fax."

This service allows you to text your message to your representatives and it is delivered in various form (sometimes hand delivered to the offices by volunteers).
5 Calls is the easiest and most effective way for citizens to make an impact in national and local politics
Calling is the most effective way to influence your representative. Read more about why calling works.
Try these or any of the other services to get your voice out there and let your disapproval be known.
No kids in cages. Treat the immigrants and refugees as humans.
